Book: Flush by Carl Hiaasen
Noah and his sister Abbey are trying to help their father, who is in jail for sinking a gaming ship. He sank it because it was polluting the ocean and he couldn't get anyone to listen. Now, Noah and Abbey are trying to get evidence to help their father. They meet some very strange and sometimes dangerous people. Noah is constantly being bullied by the son of the gaming ship owner. But they get help from a woman with a barbed wire tatoo and this weird old man. They come up with a crazy plan to prove that the gaming ship pollutes. It is fast and lots of action.
Recommended for ages 11 & up.

Book: Avalon High by Meg Cabot
Ellie is the new kid at Avalon High School and she finds herself immediately attracted to Will, a popular kid. He seems familiar. Will is drawn to her and thinks he has known her before. Ellie feels happy and scared at the same time. People are telling her that she is reincarnated and reliving Camelot and its tragedy. Only Ellie isn't buying that and keeps telling everyone, including Will, that things don't have to happen that way. She fights to stop the tragedy from repeating itself. Ellie is spunky. I like her.

Book: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
Everyone found the book to be very moving and a page turner. Christopher Boone is autistic and you really get an idea of how the world looks to him. Everything has to be under tight control and certain colors cannot appear or its going to be a bad day. Chris tries to solve the mystery of who killed the neighbor's dog, a dog that Chris liked. On the way he finds out about family secrets and tries to deal with them. He goes on a harrowing journey to find out the truth, which is very important to him.
Highly recommended for teens & adults.
